Wanna know how this piece came about? Fine. Some dude from Arkansas who had previously purchased one of my USA Maps asked me to make him a custom American Flag that had some motion to it, "like it's waving in the wind" was what he asked for. Ok, I thought, that sounds like a cool piece and all, but how the hell am I gonna make that? I gave him a price, he said yes and I went to work. After quite a bit of trial and error, this is what I came up with. It was a long process to figure it out, but I was pretty stoked at how well it turned out. Can you guess what happened then? He didn't like it.
Dude. Not cool. That was probably seven or eight years ago and it is still to this day the only time that has ever happened. I wasn't too thrilled since I thought the thing was pretty great, but hey, if the customer's not happy, I'm not happy either so we just parted ways and it was all good. I mean, what the hell am I gonna do, force him to take a piece of art he doesn't like? That's even crazier than him not liking it in the first place. If you're putting art in your house or office of business or whatever, you gotta love it. You gotta not be able to live without it. Long story short (too late), if you dig it, I'll make you one featuring plates from any state you want. Even Arkansas.
Also pictured is a version made with NY plates. That customer didn't change his mind, he loved it. Damn right he did.
